Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea!

Last week Thursday, I went to the highly spoken about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea at the One Aldwych Hotel in Covent Garden. It marked my fun and filled packed weekend as my really good friend from University came on Friday as we attended V festival on Saturday, yes omg I saw the Biebs!

Back to this blog post, the afternoon tea was amazinggggg! It is inspired by the book which Roald Dahl wrote. You get sandwiches, savoury and the sweet selection and of course the tea selection. With the price you pay you are able to ask for more sandwiches and tea in fact anything you liked from the afternoon tea you could ask for more!

thumb_IMG_0949_1024 thumb_IMG_0952_1024 I started of with drinking ‘English Summer Garden’ which was fragrant and not too sweet.  The sandwiches were so eye appealing and so cute. Vibrant and playful and extremely tasty. My favourite sandwich was the ‘Egg mayonnaise with watercress’ as it was on brioche bread which made it very sweet and tasty. I loved it so much that we asked for more. The other sandwiches included;

Smoked Salmon and herb Fraiche, roast beef and grain mustard mayonnaise, heritage tomato tart and leek and stilton quiche.

  thumb_IMG_0956_1024 As we enjoyed the endless tea and second round of sandwiches we felt very full and waited patiently for our sweet selection as it involves… CANDY FLOSS!

My friends and I could not wait as the sweet selection included such a variety with;

  • Golden chocolate egg filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango
  • Chocolate caramel milk
  • Eton Mess
  • Homemade candy floss
  • Lemon and raspberry cake pops
  • Coca bean finacier
  • Blueberry brioche
  • Warm scones with different flavour jams and clotted cream

The egg filled vanilla mango cheescake was so refreshing

thumb_IMG_0960_1024 thumb_IMG_0967_1024 I must say the sweet part was my favourite! It was endless! I really enjoyed the Eton mess pots! As it was fresh and had strawberry pieces inside yum! I also enjoyed the scones and the blueberry brioche! The candy floss was surprisly really tasty, we had to guess the flavour and it was rhubarb and custard flavour!

Of course after demolishing this fantastic spread we washed it down with a good and trustworthy cup of English tea. As much as it is nice to try the infused flavours of tea nothing can beat enjoying a traditional english tea.

Overall this Afternoon Tea was fantastic! Yes it is quite expensive but it was a treat and a way to mark our graduation especially as it is an experience we will remember and throughly enjoyed! The venue was lovely too, big and well air conditioned Hotel in the heart of the city.

It is something different and very tasty and a fresh twist on a traditional Afternoon Tea. Let me know whether you have tried this Afternoon Tea and if so how did you find it! Enjoy! xxx
