To the question above, YES it’s possible for Arsenal to still possibly finish in the top 4. As the premier league is gradually coming to an end, it’s starting to look like it could be achievable!
The start of the season back in August 2018, saw Arsenal undergo a new era, with replacing the long serving veteran of Arsene Wenger with our new manager Unai Emery. There was excitement, enthusiasm and a sense of optimism in the air and the change that fans all over had been crying out for. With this in mind, fans and I myself knew that we shouldn’t be expecting too much from this season. The new era wont just change in a click of a finger. It will take a long term progress. However the immediate reaction I wanted to see was how would the players adapt to the new regime integrated by the manager.
With the first two opening games ending with defeats, the team went on an impressive 22 unbeaten streak. During this period the players were demonstrating desire, commitment, fight and this was restoring the positive energy back within the fans. At games you could feel fans were starting to believe again!
The season however hasn’t come without its struggles, with long term injuries creeping that caused huge looses for the team we saw questionable team performances and the table started to mirror those issues. We saw points being lost and the sight of top four slipping. Though it seems I should never underestimate this team. They have come back fighting and have found their stride once more. The other teams around us are loosing points fast it seems that Arsenal have found themselves in a prime spot to gain some much needed points!
A finish in the top 4 and perhaps even winning the Europa League will be a very successful season for Arsenal. Taking into account the big change starting with the new manager and new additions to the team it really didn’t seem likely this will be the case. However as we fast approach the end of the season it’s shaping up to be a very exciting time to be an arsenal fan! xx
