Arsenal really do know how to make supporters feel stressed and leave it to the dying moments and make heart rates go up and down! As much as I fully support and love my team with a passion… they can be incredibly frustrating too!
It was a late win against Southampton from the winning penalty taken by the football magician Santi Cazorla in the 94th minute. The scenes and atmosphere was electric when the goal went in!
I must say the game it self was not a world class performance. The first half was very poor but the second half was much improved. Southampton came with a game plan of playing very defensive and would of been happy with a draw! This made it difficult for Arsenal to play the way they like to play. At times the game was sluggish and slow, and then goal opportunities were either missed or just saved by the big Southampton keeper Fraser Forster.
New signings also made an appearance Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi! You could tell they were both nervous and wanted to make an introduction to the premier league. The fans in the stadium gave a BIG CHEER and APPLAUSE for our newbies. Out of the two I feel that Mustafi had a better game, he seemed more comfortable and made some great interceptions and headers. Perez struggled in the first half but second half he did start to get into the game. It will take them a while to gel and get comfortable with the team and we can not expect them to be 100% perfect but we have to give them time.
I would say my man of the match was – Laurent Koscielny!
Because – He was solid in defence, scored our first goal on his birthday! He had a real leader mentality as our captain. Well done Bosscienly!
Next game is against PSG for the Champions League playing away. But this result is a good 3 points, we did not play very well but came out with the 3 points which propped us up the table. Early days yet but this was a must win for Arsenal.
