Swish into the year with skirts!

Swish into the year with skirts!

I have noticed the popularity with one particular clothing item, which I hold my hands up, I dont wear often… Skirts! They have really stuck out lately recently and there is so much out there. I mean who can forget the ‘silk Topshop skirt craze’ which everyone wanted! Personally I have nothing against them, in fact I am going to make a conscious effort this year to really wear skirts more. On Instagram I see how they are styled and really want to integrate them in my own style, and not always choose jeans!

I tend to go for long maxi skirts when I do wear skirts. For me they are a lot more comfortable and because I’m tall I feel I can get away with wearing them. In terms of mini or short skirts I tend to stay away from them.

This post is going to go through some of the popular trends of skirts that are flying off the rails at the moment and some of my faves that have caught my eye.

H&M pleated skirt £24.99

Every time I have been in a H&M store this skirt always catches my eye. My favourite colour is blue so I’m already biased with the colours. What I like about this skirt is the geometric design and the pleats make it perfect to style with a white turtle neck jumper and black heeled boots.

& Other Stories leopard print skirt – £59

One of the biggest fashion trends which has been a HUGE hit is leopard print. From leopard dresses, bags, shoes, tops and then owning a beloved leopard skirt. This one from & Other Stories is a bit on the pricey side but there is a lot of alternatives out on the high street. I own a pair of my own from Topshop but I do love this trend and see it sticking around for a long time and cant wait to wear it more during this summer!

Topshop Blue Corduroy Skirt – £25 (on sale)

I would really like to try more Corduroy this year. This cute blue corduroy skirt for instance from Topshop, would be fun to wear during the summer and spring days. Pairing it up with some trainers such as Stan Smiths or high stop converse. What I do like about corduroy is that it can be styled very casually which for me is comfortable

ASOS DESIGN Tall bias cut satin midi skirt – £28

Satin skirts started to become a new obsession. Its easy to see why! It can be worn very easily, whether casually as seen in the photo with a pair of converse, or for an evening setting with an open toe heels. I love this ASOS yellow one and there are so many different ones, from coloured ones to printed ones. This is definitely a skirt trend I really want to invest in this year.

ZARA checked ruffle skirt – £25.99

This style is one that may have a split decision. The ruffle wont be for everyone. However as seen in this ZARA one it can be easily worn simply with a jumper tucked in. Why I like this one is the fact the ruffle is centred in the middle and the ruffle will add that extra dimension. This will inject a bit of fun to the outfit, different from the ordinary!

Tall Joni Denim jeans – £20 (on sale)

Then my last pick is a denim skirt. I actually dont own a denim skirt. SHOCK! Strange to some but again I reiterate the whole thing of me not wearing skirts enough. In fact I like this Topshop one because its dark denim and the shape, I believe this will be a flattering skirt to wear for that casual look!

I hope you liked this style skirt roundup which has inspired me for sure to really invest and trail more skirts within my outfits this year. I would love to know which type of skirts you cant get enough of too! xx
